Dr. Dave Rathgeber is an Assistant Professor of Petroleum Engineering at Montana Tech and holds a PhD in Materials Science for his research on the impact of pipe rotation on hole cleaning in high-angle, extended-reach wellbores.
Canadian-born, Dave has almost a decade of technical and engineering experience in various drilling and completions roles, both national and International.
Dave earned a Bachelor’s and master’s degree in petroleum engineering at Montana Tech, and in addition to teaching classes in both the Petroleum and Environmental Engineering programs, Dave also serves as the Department Head for the Master of Project Engineering Management program through Montana Tech.
Dave currently resides in Butte, MT with his Fiancée and their 3 children. Dave is an avid hockey fan (go Jets!) and is involved in both the Collegiate and Junior Hockey landscape, serving as the team manager for the Montana Tech ACHA Men’s D2 Digger Hockey Club and as a part-owner of the Bassano Beavers USPHL Premier team.
