The Curriculum
Five weeks take you from beginner to building agents and automations for real oil & gas workflows. Three live working sessions are held via Zoom or Microsoft Teams and recorded for anyone who can’t make it live. Exact dates and times are confirmed at enrollment and set to accommodate multiple time zones.
Your capstone starts in Week 1
It isn’t a final-week scramble. In Week 1 you pick a real problem from your own role or operation, and every week after that you build against it with a defined milestone and instructor feedback. By the final week you’re optionally presenting something you’ve been building the whole time, not starting from a blank page.
Week 1 — Claude FoundationsGet fluent fast: what Claude is good at, where it needs a human, and how to prompt it well.
- How Claude works and where it fits alongside the tools you already use
- Prompting best practices, tips and tricks for everyday work
- Core terms like tokens, context windows, RAG and MCP
- Working with documents and data: reports, spreadsheets, well files, regulatory filings
- Extending Claude with skills, connectors and plugins
- Security basics: prompt injection and what to check before you install anything
- Safe handling of sensitive and proprietary operational data
- What an agent is and what it can take off your plate
- CAPSTONEPick the real problem from your job that you'll build for
LIVESession 1 — Kickoff & Applied Q&A
Meet the instructor and your cohort, agree on your capstone, and get your Week 1 questions answered live.
Week 2 — Claude for Daily Work (Cowork)Turn Claude into a working tool for the tasks that eat up your week.
- Using Cowork with your own files and spreadsheets
- Taking the manual work out of Excel-heavy reports and trackers
- Automating workflows across the web, like pulling state production data
- Turning a task you've done once into a skill you can rerun
- Scheduling daily and monthly reports to run on their own
- Live dashboards that stay current with your production data
- On-brand decks and one-pagers from your data with Claude Design
- CAPSTONEPrototype your workflow by hand with Claude and confirm it's worth automating
Week 3 — Claude Code & Agents for O&GFor technical builders ready to go beyond prompting into automation and agent design.
- Getting started with Claude Code in the desktop app and the terminal
- Building your own tools, apps and models from your data
- Automating desktop apps with computer use, like your forecasting software
- What an agent harness is: the loop, tools and checks around the model
- Building your own agent harness for a real job
- Observability and evals: tracing every run and grading the results
- Connecting Claude to your systems and data with MCP
- Searching your well files and reports with RAG and GraphRAG
- CAPSTONEDecide whether your capstone stays a prompted workflow or becomes an agent or tool, and build the first working version
LIVESession 2 — Applied Build Lab
A hands-on working session applying Claude Code, agents and automation to real O&G examples — bring your own data if you have it.
Week 4 — Applying AI to Real O&G WorkflowsBring it together against the workflows that actually run an operating company.
- Production and reservoir reporting, RTA and SCADA data with AI in the loop
- Automated anomaly detection in production and operations data
- Building your first internal AI-assisted workflow, with a real business owner and a real outcome
- CAPSTONERun your capstone against live operational data and line up the business owner who’ll use it
Final Week — Capstone Finish & ShowcaseEvery earlier milestone comes together. No blank page, just the last mile.
- Tighten and stress-test what you’ve built since Week 1
- Document it so a teammate could pick it up and run it
- Optional: Present it in the live showcase and leave with something already working
LIVESession 3 — Capstone Showcase & Wrap-Up
Present your capstone, get feedback from the instructor and the cohort, and leave with a clear next-steps plan for scaling AI use across your team.
Why This Course
Most AI training is a generic 90-minute webinar or a vendor’s feature tour. Neither changes how a team actually works. This program is different on three counts.
Built for oil & gas, not adapted from it
Every example, dataset and workflow comes from real upstream, midstream and reservoir engineering work: production reporting, SCADA data, RTA analysis, land and regulatory documents, and the Excel-heavy processes that eat an engineer’s week.
Cohort-based, not self-paced and forgotten
Pre-recorded lessons get you moving on your own schedule. Live sessions, a capstone and instructor support keep you accountable and make the skills stick.
You leave with something built
Bring a real problem from your own operation and leave with a working Claude-based workflow, agent or tool, with direct instructor support to get it across the finish line.
Program Format
Designed for people with a full-time operating job.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a coding background?
No, for Weeks 1, 2 and 4. Week 3 (Claude Code & Agents) assumes basic technical comfort but is taught from the ground up.
What if I miss a live session?
Every live session is recorded and added to your on-demand library, so you never lose access to the material.
How much time should I budget per week?
Plan for roughly 2–3 hours per week across on-demand lessons, live sessions and capstone work. The program is designed for people working full-time in an operating role.
What does the capstone project need to look like?
Any real workflow, report or repetitive task from your own job is a good candidate. You’ll scope it in Week 1 with the instructor’s help, then build on it each week, so it’s achievable inside the cohort window.
Can my whole team enroll together?
Yes. See Team/Group pricing above, or ask about a private cohort scheduled around your organization’s calendar.
Is this the same as SAGA Wisdom’s other courses?
This cohort uses the SAGA Wisdom platform to host on-demand content, but is a distinct, instructor-led program built and taught by AAI Agency specifically for applied AI in oil & gas.
