Dr. Brian Ruskin is a geologist and decision quality leader with more than two decades of experience turning complex subsurface and strategic questions into high-value business outcomes. He has mapped, modeled, and evaluated conventional and unconventional petroleum systems around the world—spanning basin-, play-, and prospect-scale assessments for Shell, and multiple independent E&P companies, including QEP Resources, Whiting Petroleum and Ovintiv.
A specialist in stratigraphy, reservoir characterization, unconventional petroleum systems, and geologic risking, Brian blends deep technical expertise with a strategist’s mindset. As a trained practitioner of decision quality and former strategy consultant, he guides teams through their most consequential choices, helping them frame problems clearly, generate stronger alternatives, and understand the full range of uncertainty, risk, and upside. Across industry and consulting roles, Brian is known for using probabilistic modeling to illuminate value drivers, simplify complexity, and accelerate higher-confidence investment decisions.
Brian holds a BS in Geology from the University of Pittsburgh and a PhD in Geological Sciences from Cornell University.
