Hole Cleaning and Stuck-Pipe Prevention Course

Hole Cleaning and Stuck-Pipe Prevention provides drilling engineers and operational personnel with a practical, physics-based understanding of how wellbore conditions develop into hole-cleaning problems, packoff, mechanical restrictions, and differential sticking. The course connects well planning with field execution, covering cuttings transport in vertical and high-angle wells, cuttings-bed formation and clearance, the effects of flow rate, rheology, pipe rotation, BHA geometry and ROP, as well as stuck-pipe diagnosis, prevention, and mechanism-specific response. It also introduces model-assisted monitoring, digital twins, and data-driven methods for identifying developing wellbore risk.

Designed for drilling engineers, wellsite personnel, drilling supervisors, and technical professionals from early-career through experienced practitioner level, the course emphasizes how to move from symptoms to mechanism and from mechanism to the correct operational response. Participants will leave better equipped to recognize warning signs early, distinguish between major sticking mechanisms, select appropriate hole-cleaning practices, and make safer, more informed decisions before manageable wellbore conditions escalate into costly nonproductive time.
