Patrick Teevens, CD, P.Eng., FNACE, MCIC is a seasoned chemical engineer and analytical chemist with over 46 years of experience in the oilfield industry. He holds a B.Sc. in Chemistry from the University of Calgary, specializing in inorganic and electrochemistry, and achieved his professional engineering designation through the APEGA Exam Route between 1980 and 1989.
Patrick’s career spans a global footprint, with significant projects across Canada, the United States, South America, the Middle East (Kuwait, UAE, and Qatar), China, India, Malaysia, and Australia/New Zealand. His expertise in internal corrosion and failure analysis has positioned him as a sought-after subject matter expert and lead investigator in high-profile incidents, including the 2000 El Paso gas pipeline explosion in Carlsbad, NM, and the 2014 GAIL pipeline explosion in Rajahmundry, India—both of which involved multiple fatalities and severe injuries.
He is a licensed Professional Engineer in Alberta (#M34106), British Columbia (#19380), and Ontario (#100229333), and holds numerous industry certifications, including NACE Corrosion Specialist (1985), Internal Corrosion Specialist (2013), Cathodic Protection Specialist (1985), and API 510 Pressure Vessel Inspector (#1340, since 1992).
A 20-year veteran of the Royal Canadian Naval Reserve, Patrick retired as a Lieutenant (N) and was awarded the Canadian Forces Decoration in 1983. He is also the recipient of the NACE International Technical Achievement Award (2017) for his work on the enpICDA™ internal corrosion predictive model, and was named a NACE International Fellow in 2019 for his outstanding contributions to the field of corrosion engineering.
