Julian Moore

Julian Moore is the Chief Technical Officer of Applied Petroleum Technology (APT) Group, a Norwegian organic geochemistry lab and associated consultancy. He holds a BSc in Geological Sciences from the University of Plymouth, UK, and MSc in Petroleum Geochemistry and PhD in Geology (sedimentology & petrophysics) both from the University of Newcastle, UK. Prior to working for APT Group, Julian worked for BP Exploration, where he completed the Challenge Graduate program, before working in a variety of roles, including a secondment into the Reliance-BP JV and a role on the Exploration Assurance team. As APT CTO Julian takes on a wide range of activities from day-to-day management of operations, to accounts to business strategy and product development. Julian is a co-developer of Girasol, a well site gas interpretation software developed jointly with Tim Dodd (ex-BP). He has led two industry funded R&D projects, the first was on geochemical maturity parameters and more recently he has led an R&D project into GPC-RI-UV technology combined with machine learning methods to predict petroleum physical properties from both flowed petroleum samples and from solvent extracts from rock samples.
