Introduction to Geomechanics

Geomechanics is undeniably one of the most important topics of applied earth engineering. The knowledge of the mechanical and failure behavior of the rock masses is essential for all engineers and geoscientists particularly in the field of unconventional rocks engineering.

This course aims to cover the fundaments of geomechanics science that all professionals in the field of petroleum engineering and beyond may require. Fundamental concepts such stress and strain analysis, failure behavior of rock masses, mechanical earth models, and fault stress analysis are discussed.
