Oilfield Sustainability and Lifecycle Course

Tim Taylor

We hear about the environment everywhere from plastic straws to recycling bottles. But what does it mean to the energy industry? What does a project engineer or those supporting resource projects need to know? In this course we will look at the life cycle of an energy project, considering specifically the life of an oil or gas well from planning to final reclamation. We will also examine the concept of life cycle from an environmental aspect, examining in detail some of the supply chain implications for both the output and input, thru the life of an energy asset.
This course is intended for those that don’t have a background in environmental science, but whose work might impact end-of-life liabilities. Those who would benefit include are new development/exploit/reservoir engineers, administrative employees, that need an understanding of the environmental requirements and impact on business/financial metrics due to ARO.Read more...
